Castle for Sale: Chateau De Farcheville

Felling luxurious today? Here is yet another castle for sale that will make your heart go all a flutter. This gem is located in the heart of France, just outside of Paris. The Chateau de Farcheville is a 14th century castle just 25 minutes away from Paris that has been completely renovated.

It has 18 (!) bedrooms, including the king's room, the queen's room and 31 bathrooms. Talk about never having to share a sink! Personally, I like the queen's room best.

The king's room, while not as much my taste, does boast an adjoined sitting room/salon that is quite beautiful.

Of course, this castle is nothing to shake a stick at. The property spans more than 1000 acres, with private hunting grounds, an indoor pool and a gym/spa, maid's quarters, a private cinema, chapel, bakery and music recording room.

You will have your choice of dining rooms each night, as there are five on the property. The large dining room is incredibly impressive, but the other rooms are equally charming.

There are also four kitchens, this one is exclusively reserved for breakfast. I can imagine a typical morning going something like this: "Hello, Pierre? Where are you?" "Why, I am in the breakfast kitchen, having my croissants from our bakery." Silly you. It's not like he would be in a different kitchen, right?

Of course the grounds are beautiful, with lovely gardens and a well kept courtyard.

All this can be yours for a mere 110 million euros. With the current exchange rate, that's about $150 million dollars. Once again, I am offering to go halvsies with anyone that might be interested in living just outside of Paris. After all, with all those bedrooms, bathrooms and dining rooms, it's not like we'd run into each other. :-)

Killahara Castle

Hello friends. Life outside my window is snow covered, cold and dreary, so I figured we could play make believe again. 'Member this castle that I posted about a few months ago that was for sale? Well, I've found another, this time in the magical place that is Ireland. Let me introduce you to Killahara Castle, just an hour and a half away from Dublin, Cork and Shannon.

This lovely is 500 years old, but has been lovingly restored by diehard conservationists. They managed to update the castle with all of the comforts of home; running water, heat and electricity, while still maintaining the authenticity of the castle. The castle has been owned by various clans and families throughout its long and rich history, and it was even a dance hall in the 1920's and 30's. Check out the beautiful architecture.

Although the decor inside is decidedly castle-ish, it is beautiful and austere. Pictured here is the bedroom that was originally occupied by the chief who built the castle in 1550.

The dining room is spacious and light-filled,

and the bathrooms are thoroughly modernized.

Take the original spiral stone staircase all the way to the top,

and you'll find the penthouse suite with a gorgeous views, a bathroom and a rooftop patio.

The views!! Oh, the views. This is Ireland, after all. Try not to drool on your keyboard.

But don't get too carried away. Renting this castle for the weekend will set you back nearly $2,000, and purchasing it outright? Well, let's just pretend like we don't care.

Château La Chassagne

Would you like to own a castle? This lovely ginormous little castle just outside of Paris is for sale, for a mere 10.5 million euros. (about $15.5 million) It is called the Château La Chassagne, and was built in 1830.

It was converted into a hotel/resort and updated with all of the amenities in 1991, so there's no fear about not living in great comfort. The rooms are typically European, small and sparsely furnished, but still lovely. My guess is those are original oils above the beds.

The dining room seems to be nice enough, if a little dark.

There is a bistro area out back, that looks absolutely lovely. Oh, and did I mention that this castle includes a vineyard? Can't you just see yourself relaxing on the patio, savoring a glass of your very own wine?

Of course the castle isn't the only building on the grounds. If you prefer not to make the long drive into town for church, why not attend mass at your very own private chapel?

There is space for up to 22 of your closest friends, who are welcome to fly in on their private planes. They, of course, can land on your private airstrip.

There will be plenty for them to do while they stay with you. There is 100 acres on this property, and your guests can choose from hunting on the game reserve, either walking or on horseback. Additionally, they can lounge by one of the two heated pools, or destress in the sauna.

Perhaps your guests will be up for a game of tennis, or if they would like to take it easier, perhaps an enormous chess game?

And before you think that you'll spend your life cleaning and maintaining this huge home, there are full servant's quarters to house the staff you'll need for a castle like this.

So what do you think? Want to move to France with me?

I'm linking this up to Julia's Hooked on Fridays, and Melissa's Beautiful Fridays, because who doesn't love an awesome castle?
